Urban Forest Management Plan
Objective:
• Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the City of Santa Maria’s Urban Forest; and
• Evaluate opportunities for improving the Urban Forest; and • Analyze the cost to operate and maintain the Urban Forest; and • Develop a tool [the Urban Forest Management Plan] to operate and maintain the Urban Forest.

Scope of Plan Development
Project Scope:
• Evaluate the health and condition of the existing Urban Forest within the City of Santa Maria; and
• Evaluate operation and maintenance costs; and
• Evaluate Best Management Practices in support of the Urban Forest; and
• Identify next steps to implement the Urban Forest Management Plan.

Staff Recommendations
1) Receive a presentation of the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department's Urban Forest Master Plan; and
2) Receive and file the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department's Urban Forest Master Plan; and
3) Provide staff with direction on the development of necessary ordinances and the review of existing ordinances to support the implementation of the Urban Forest Master Plan.
