RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS FLEET DIVISION TO ACQUIRE
AN EXPANSION GRAFFITI ABATEMENT TRUCK FOR RECREATION AND PARKS DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2023-2024
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks have identified that graffiti abatement within the City of Santa Maria has increased significantly over the past several years; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks currently uses older small trailers and small equipment resulting in a less efficient graffiti abatement process; and
WHEREAS, Recreation and Parks staff have identified the need for a new graffiti abatement truck, outfitted with larger capacity tanks, sprayers, and safety lights, in order to more efficiently tackle graffiti abatement throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of the new Graffiti Abatement Truck is in alignment with the City Council’s goals of Community Quality of Life, and additionally, helps to maintain a “Smart City-Safe City” for the community; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the Graffiti Abatement Truck is $180,000; and
WHEREAS, with the concurrence of the Public Works Fleet Division, the Recreation and Parks Department requests $135,000 appropriation of Fleet Expansion funds, and authorization to purchase a Graffiti Abatement Truck for Citywide use; and
WHEREAS, available funding to purchase the Graffiti Abatement Truck has been identified in the General Fund, Measure U - Quality of Life, and Special District funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
1. Authorize the use of General Fund, Measure U - Quality of Life , and Special District funds in the amount of $135,000 for the purchase of a Graffiti Abatement Truck; and
2. Increase appropriations by $ 135,000 in the Mobile Equipment Fleet Expansion fund and authorize the replacement of a Graffiti Abatement Truck; and
3. The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make minor changes herein to addres s clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
