SUBJECT: Caltrans Clean CA Post Construction Overview
The City Council will r eceive a presentation regarding the Downtown Streetscape Pedestrian Enhancements.
BACKGROUND:
The Clean California Beautification Program was created to advance equity in underserved and disadvantaged communities by implementing transfor mative beautification projects along the State Highway System that improve safety and transform dividing highways into spaces that unify communities.
DISCUSSION:
The California State Legislature allocated special funding to enhance the aesthetics of public spaces through projects that reduce litter, improve public health and well -being, strengthen cultural connections, and promote community placemaking.
Twelve locations across five counties in Caltrans District 5 were selected based on criteria defining underserved and disadvantaged communities.
Clean California Beautification Projects followed an expedited project delivery process, resulting in record-time construction, job creation, and the advancement of local economic prosperity.
