AMENDMENT NO. 1
LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF
SANTA MARIA AND
SANTA MARIA JOINT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
This Amendment No. 1 to the Law Enforcement Services Agreement s (“Agreements”), by and between the City of Santa Maria (“City”), and the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District (“District”), dated August 18, 2023, is hereby entered into as of November 19, 2024, based upon the following recitals:
WHEREAS, the Santa Maria Police Department operates a School Resou rce Officer Program which provides law enforcement services to school districts within the City of Santa Maria; and
WHEREAS, the City and the District entered into Agreement s dated August 18, 2023, for a four-year term in which the City provided said law enforcement services to the District; and
WHEREAS, these Agreements are authorized by the California Government Code Section 53060, and California Education Code Section 35160; and
WHEREAS, the Parties wish to continue the term of the Agreements; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police of the City (or his/her designee) is authorized to amend the Agreements upon the original terms pursuant to City of Santa Maria City Council Resolution No. 2023-112, passed and adopted on August 1, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, that the City Council authorizes the following:
1. Billing Rates. For and in consideration of the rendition of the law enforcement services to be performed by the City for the District under th ese Agreements, the District shall pay the City for sa id services provided by City under the terms of these Agreements at the then current billing rate which recovers the department’ s cost of law enforcement and administrative services, and some of the City’s overhead costs, as may be amended from time to time. Billing rates at the time of this Amendment are attached as Exhibit A and are retroactively effective for the school year of 2024-25.
2. No Other Changes. Except as specifically amended here in, all other terms and conditions of the Agreements remain in full force and effect.
