A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MARIA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A COMPREHENSIVE SCHEMATIC
PAY SCHEDULE TO IMPLEMENT THE FOLLOWING SALARY AND
CLASSIFICATION CHANGES: IMPLEMENTATION OF SALARY
ADJUSTMENTS FOR CERTAIN CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE SERVICE
EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION LOCAL 620 SALARY GROUP,
EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 28, 2024; APPROVE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
THE ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN CLASS
SPECIFICATION, AS PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED BY COUNCIL IN THE FISCAL YEAR 24-26 ADOPTED BUDGET
WHEREAS, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (“CalPERS”) requires adoption of a publicly-presented Comprehensive Salary Schedule to implement salary adjustments, as set forth in section 5 70.5 of Title 2 of the California Code of Regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City has compiled the necessary salary data to create a single salary schedule in compliance with the requirement of CalPERS, attached to the Council Agenda Report as Attachment B, dated January 21, 2025, for effective date December 28, 2024 ; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Maria City Council has agreed previously to conduct a salary review and implement agreed to adjustments through the Current Year 2024-2025 labor agreement for Service Employee’s International Union 620; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2-20.04.1 (a) Job Descriptions (Specifications) states in part, “The specifications, when approved by the City Council, shall constitute the official class specifications for the City service”; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2024-92 authorized the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician classification; and
WHEREAS, the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician class specification and salary is being established.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein.
2. The Comprehensive Salary Schematic Schedule for all full -time and part -time employees attached to the City Council Agenda Report as Attachment B, dated January 21, 2025 , incorporated herein by reference, is hereby authorized and approved; and
3. The City Council of the City of Santa Maria authorizes the establishment to Electrical and Instrumentation Technician classification and corresponding class specification; and
4. The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make minor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City M anager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
