RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
REDESIGN GROUP TO IMPLEMENT A CLOUD-BASED
COMPUTER BACKUP SYSTEM AND PROVIDE THREE YEARS
OF SYSTEM MAINTENANCE, LICENSING, AND SUPPORT
WHEREAS, the City operates numerous critical computer applications and systems essential to the functioning of all City Departments; and
WHEREAS, these systems store and process current and historic al transactional data within databases housed in City datacenters that are located at the Police Department and City Hall; and
WHEREAS, this backup strategy though highly effective for typical recovery scenarios, does not safeguard the City’s data against local disasters such as fires, floods, or earthquakes that could destroy or incapacitate the data center equipment; and
WHEREAS, the proposed solution is to create backup data at a second location situated offsite; and
WHEREAS, execution of the Agreement enables the City to implement a cloud - based computer backup system and provide three years of system maintenance, licensing and support.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. Authorize the City Manager or designee to enter into an agreement with the ReDesign Group; and
SECTION 2 . The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make m inor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
