SUBJECT: Presentation – Combined Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 and Economic Development Impact of the First Six Months of Fiscal Year 2024-2025
City Council will receive a presentation from the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce on the Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2023 -2024 and the Economic Development endeavors of the first six months of Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Santa Maria partners with the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce to attract visitors to the city and provide economic development enhancement and support within the City . In exchange for these services, the Chamber receives a portion of the Transient Occupancy Tax from the City.
DISCUSSION:
The Visitor’s Convention Bureau at the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce showcases the agricultural, horticultural, mineral, industrial, commercial, climatic, educational, recreational, and cultural resources and advantages of the City in hopes of increasing the trade, commerce, and tourist and convention activity within the City.
Additionally, the Chamber, in its commitment to economic growth, business support, and community enhancement continues to provide outreach to start, retain , and assist local businesses.
