SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing – “Ricardo Gabaldon”
The City Council will p resent a Proclamation honoring Ricardo Gabaldón for his contributions to the folklórico community.
BACKGROUND:
The Proclamation recognizes Ricardo Gabaldón Sr. for founding the Righetti High School Marimba Band and Ballet Folklórico in 1975 and dedicating 40 years to cultural education at Righetti High School. Through over 1,500 performances, the group has promoted Mexican heritage, empowered youth —particularly Chicano and Latino students —and fostered cross-cultural understanding across the Central Coast. Mr. Gabaldón’s work has left a lasting legacy in the Santa Maria community, now carried on by his son, Ricardo A.
Gabaldón Jr. The City honors Mr. Gabaldón for his extraordinary leadership in folklórico arts and his invaluable contributions to preserving the community's cultural heritage.
