Proclamation
WHEREAS, Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a global network of clubs, serving over 270,000 members in more than 14,000 clubs across 150 countries . It has empowered individuals from diverse backgrounds to become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders, contributing to stronger communities and workplaces; and
WHEREAS, District 33 of Toastmasters International, established in 1949, proudly serves a large portion of Central California, including approximately 125 clubs and over 1,400 members organized into eight divisions, and has continuously worked to build new clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence. District 33 provides a supportive and engaging environment where members gain essential communication, leadership, and professional development skills through hands -on experiences, workshops, and constructive feedback; and
WHEREAS, the Annual District 33 Conference, taking place on May 17, 2025, in Santa Maria, California, will bring together Toastmasters members from across the region for a day of skill - building, inspiration, and connection through events such as the International Speech Contest, Table Topics Contest, leadership development sessions, and the Communication & Leadership Award Luncheon, honoring Kim Colby Davis, Executive Director of CASA of Santa Barbara County, for her outstanding service and impact; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Maria recognizes and commends Toastmasters International and District 33 for their commitment to personal and professional growth, civic engagement, and the development of strong, effective leaders in our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALICE M. PATINO, Mayor of the City of Santa Maria hereby proclaim May 17, 2025 as:
“ Toastmasters International District 33 Day ”
in the City of Santa Maria and encourage all residents to recognize and support the mission and values of Toastmaste rs International and District 33 in developing communication and leadership excellence.
