Hello City Council,
I am writing to express interest and concern over an agenda item selecting and awarding funds for a single wide City Landscaper.
I would like you to consider splitting the city and awarding it to 2 contractors. This would avoid a single point of failure and give you experience to validate performance and inform decisions to be made in the future. With 2 working it will have a tendency to contain costs as 2 vendors would want to do superb work to avoid having work go to just one upon renewal.
I would also like to request you do an actual onsite visits to some of the landscaping done by any and all companies under consideration. Are the plants/trees properly pruned? Is there any overgrowth onto private property? Is damage to sidewalks avoided? Perhaps the city Urban Forester can advise on other things to consider when selecting a landscape management company.
I am also providing a picture I took last month of landscape work done by a professional company in a shopping center in NorCal. I hope Santa Maria will be maintained as nicely.
