Proclamation
WHEREAS, Active Aging Week is celebrated nationwide for all to appreciate the myriad of benefits of adopting a healthier lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Maria observes Active Aging Week to inspire wellness through educational activities to convey the care and support of Santa Maria’s older residents; and
WHEREAS it is recognized that social well -being and community enrichment benefits the City’s active aging population; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Maria has committed to providing quality services to seniors, including leisure services, exercise classes; and
WHEREAS, active adults who are physically and socially healthy contribute to the community as volunteers, mentors, and role models; and
WHEREAS, for the past 14 years the City of Santa Maria has acknowledged Active Aging Week in its continuous effort to recognize that healthier decisions affect the quality of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALICE M. PATINO, Mayor of the City of Santa Maria, hereby proclaim October 6th through October 12th, 2025, as:
“ACTIVE AGING WEEK”
in the City of Santa Maria, representing all the dimensions of wellness with a focus on physical activity, life enrichment, social wellbeing, outdoor recreatio n opportunities, and community engagement for the senior population and future generations.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and have caused the Seal of the City of Santa Maria to be affixed hereto this 16th day of September 2025.
