A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FLEET REPLACEMENT
SCHEDULE TO AUTHORIZE THE REFURBISHMENT OF 2013
CATERPILLAR CS56B SOIL COMPACTOR,
ASSET NO. 6445-13, IN FISCAL YEAR 2025-26
WHEREAS, the Utilities Department operates fleet assets at the Santa Maria Regional Landfill to support solid waste disposal operations, and
WHEREAS, Asset No. 6445-13, a 2013 Caterpillar CS56B Soil Compactor, has exceeded useful life, and recent oil sample analysis indicates the engine is nearing catastrophic failure, and
WHEREAS, the unit is scheduled for replacement in F iscal Year (FY) 2026-27, pending budget and Council approval, and
WHEREAS, due to the limited remaining lifespan of Asset No. 6445-13, it has been determined that refurbishing the asset in FY 2025 -26 is more cost-effective than full replacement in FY 2026-27, and will extend its operational life.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RE SOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. The Fleet Replacement schedule is amended to authorize early refurbishment of Asset No. 6445-13 prior to its scheduled replacement in FY 2026 -27, and that the associated budget amendments are approved; and
SECTION 2. The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make m inor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
