Hello, Council Members. My name is Anastasia Senavsky, and I am writing on behalf of the Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund to reaffirm our support for all people that reside in the city of Santa Maria, including the large and vibrant immigrant community that makes up our children, youth, families, educators, healthcare workers, business leaders, neighbors, and friends.
PPCCAF fights for all people to have equitable access to essential healthcare and, therefore, unites in solidarity with the immigrant communities of Santa Maria and throughout the Central Coast. Fear, anger and confusion persist as we continue to see ICE surveil and terrorize our streets along with uncertainty about the role of local law enforcement in protecting our communities. This fear and intimidation directly impact the ability to care for patients and threatens the health, safety, and wellbeing of our community.
We expect our elected leaders to represent, care for, and act in the best interest of all members that make our community. Instead, our community is suffering because of inaction and complacency. We are counting on our elected leaders to listen and act.
That is why we continue to call upon the Council’s support for the formation of an Immigration Ad Hoc Committee so that all voices and concerns are adequately represented.
Thank you.
Anastasia Senavsky
