A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING THE DONATION OF SALVADOR DALI DESTINO
PAINTINGS TO THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA
FROM JOHN AND NINA BALDWIN
WHEREAS, John and Nina Baldwin donated Salvador Dali artwork with an estimated value of $34,000; and
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 37354 of the California Government Code states that, “The legislative body may accept or reject any gift, bequest, or devise made to or for the city, or to or for any of its officers in their official capacity or in trust for any public purpose;” and
WHEREAS, the City’s Gift and/or Donation Policy CAM 2017-01 requires offers of monetary donations or items valued more than $25,000 must be accepted by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. Accept the donation of Salvador Dali artwork from John and Nina Baldwin with an estimated value of $34,000 and direct the City Manager, or designee, to prepare a letter of appreciation to John and Nina Baldwin.
SECTION 2 . The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make minor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance with the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
