I’d like to submit the following public comment for this evening’s City Council meeting in regards to the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding recommendations from the Block Grants Advisory Committee (BGAC). Please let me know if you need anything else.
On behalf of Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, I respectfully recommend funding support for our programs serving Santa Maria families navigating pediatric cancer. A child’s diagnosis impacts the entire family—most acutely those already facing financial hardship—disrupting not only health, but also emotional well-being, education, and economic stability.
We ask for your partnership in sustaining programs that address these interconnected needs, helping to restore a sense of stability and support for 40 of some of the most vulnerable families in our community.
