RE: Extension Request & Progress to date on PD2022-0006 & TR2022-0005 (Skylight Homes):
Dear Mr. Graybehl –
People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) would like to formally request an extension to PD2022- 0006 for the Skylight Homes development, located at 3170 Santa Maria Way. Per Municipal Code Section 12-35.501, we understand that the permit is active until 3 years from effective date of the approval, and that two-year extensions, up to seven years are allowable. Our team respectfully requests a two-year time extension at this time. For your consideration, see a brief summary of the progress to date. We are actively working towards moving into the construction phase as expeditiously as possible:
• The Final Map was recorded on 4/8/25;
• Skylight Homes submitted for building permits last month – December 2025 and is actively working through the plan check process;
• PSHH has been actively pursuing Local, State, Federal, and Private funds in order to finance the construction and development of Skylight Homes; • Since the project approvals were issued, PSHH has secured the following financing:
o $4.04 million in (HCD) CA Department of Housing and Community Development o $150,000 County of Santa Barbara PLHA Funds
• Additional funding applications for New Market Tax Credits and private equity are currently underway.
