RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE PLACEMENT OF ALEXANDER “ALEX” POSADA
ON THE CITY’S ELIGIBILITY/RESOURCE LIST FOR FUTURE
PARK, TRAIL, AND FACILITY NAMING CONSIDERATION
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Maria maintains an eligibility/resource list of individuals whose contributions to the Santa Maria Valley may merit consideration for future naming of City parks, facilities, trails, and other recreational assets; and
WHEREAS, the City’s established facility naming criteria provide that individuals considered for such recognition should demonstrate meaningful contributions in one or more of the following areas: Leadership in Community Affairs, Community Volunteerism, Role Model/Mentor for Others, and/or Community Enrichment; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Commission is authorized to receive community input and make recommendations to the City Council regarding individuals for inclusion on the eligibility/resource list; and
WHEREAS, at its regular meeting of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the Recreation and Parks Commission considered this matter and approved a recommendation that Alexander “Alex” Posada be placed on the City’s eligibility/resource list for future naming consideration; and
WHEREAS, Alexander “Alex” Posada has demonstrated sustained leadership and service benefiting the Santa Maria community; and
WHEREAS, based on staff review and application of the City’s naming criteria, Mr.
Posada meets multiple categories for nomination, including leadership in community affairs, community volunteerism, service as a role model and mentor, and contributions to community enrichment; and
WHEREAS, this action does not name a specific park, facility, or trail at this time, but instead approves inclusion of Mr. Posada on the City’s eligibility/resource list for potential future consideration, consistent with the City’s established process; and
WHEREAS, there is no fiscal impact associated with adding an individual to the eligibility/resource list, and any future naming action would be evaluated separately at the time of consideration.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, as follows:

SECTION 1. The City Council finds that the above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this reference.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby approves the placement of Alexander “Alex” Posada on the City’s eligibility/resource list for future par k, trail, and facility naming consideration.
SECTION 3. This resolution does not designate or approve the naming of any specific City park, trail, facility, or other recreational asset, and any such future action shall require separate review and approval in accordance with City policy.
SECTION 4. The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make m inor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
