3 Problem Statement:

Broadway (SR 135) and Main Street (SR 166) in
Downtown Santa Maria do not meet the public
space needs of the community, achieve the
multimodal goals of the City, or align with the
guiding principles for Caltrans Main Streets.

A Feasibility Study is needed because previous
planning efforts identified a vision for the
Downtown area but did not determine specific,
feasible scope elements which are needed to
begin a project.

Study Goals:
• Guide the development of a project that will
implement multimodal elements in Downtown
Santa Maria.

Santa Maria Downtown Multimodal Assessment

1. ACCEPT Concepts developed in the Santa Maria Downtown Multimodal Assessment, which recommends transportation
improvements for State Route (SR) 166 (Main Street) between Pine Street and Miller Street, as well as SR 135 (Broadway) from Cook Street to Mill Street.

2. SUPPORT City Staff’s efforts to continue coordination with Caltrans for continued development of a future project and a maintenance agreement.
