A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING APPENDIX “A” OF THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST
CODE FOR DESIGNATED FILERS OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA
WHEREAS, in 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2002-200 adopting a revised Conflict of Interest Code for designated filers; and
WHEREAS, the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) requires that Conflict of Interest Codes be reviewed biennially to ensure that the list of designated filers is updated and accurate and that designated filers are filing under the correct disclosure categories for their position responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, a review was conducted and revisions to reflect new, reclassified, and eliminated designated positions and d isclosure categories were recommended for the respective departments; and
WHEREAS, based on the recommended revision s and approved classifications and job specifications on March 18, 2025, July 1, 2025, December 2, 2025, and August 4, 2026, it is necessary to amend Appendix A of the City’s Conflict of Interest Code; and
WHEREAS, City Council wishes to designate all City of Santa Maria employees who are required to file a Form 700 “ Statement of Economic Interests” to complete the AB 1234 Ethics training, pursuant to Government Code §53234(c)(3).
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. Approve Amendments to Appendix A of the City of Santa Maria Conflict of Interest Code (Exhibit A) to reflect the eliminated positions and addition of new or amended classifications as designated filer s and are assigned their associated disclosure category(ies) referenced in Appendix C.
SECTION 2. Require all City of Santa Maria employees who are listed as designated Form 700 filers under the City’s Conflict of Interest Code to complete the AB 1234 Ethics training, pursuant to Government Code §53234(c)(3).
SECTION 3. Authorize the Chief Deputy City Clerk to make minor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
