SUBJECT: Proclamation Proclaiming the month of October 2026 as “Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month”
The City Council will present a Proclamation proclaiming the month of October as “Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month” in the City of Santa Maria.
BACKGROUND:
October 2026 is recognized as “Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month” in the City of Santa Maria, following the theme “With Survivors, Always.” The proclamation honors the courage and resilience of domestic violence survivors and emphasizes the importance of creating safe, respectful relationships and communities free from abuse. It recognizes Domestic Violence Solutions for Santa Barbara County (DVS) for providing shelter, crisis support, housing assistance, counseling, outreach, and prevention services. Residents are encouraged to support survivors, raise awareness, promote healthy relationships, and maintain zero tolerance for domestic violence.
