(En español: Cómo Convertirse en un Vendedor Con Licencia en Santa Mónica) On April 9, 2019, the Santa Monica City Council adopted a new law establishing a permitting program for Sidewalk Vendors and we want to make sure you have the information you need to set yourself up for success in Santa Monica.
If you plan to sell food or merchandise in Santa Monica from a pushcart, stand, display, pedal- driven cart, wagon, showcase, rack or other non-motorized conveyance, or from one's person, on a public sidewalk or other pedestrian path, you will need a Business License and a Vending permit issued by the City of Santa Monica.

CHANGED!
A new law passed by the City
Council on August 24, 2021 makes
the following immediate changes:
NO heating, cooking, or lighting any combustible
fuel on the Pier (including the Pier Bridge) or
within 25 feet of the Pier without a permit.
NO dumping of any commercial trash in public
containers without a permit.
NO dumping of any liquid waste into any storm
drain, street, sidewalk, bike path, parking lot, park
or beach.
All three rules may be enforced as infractions, misdemeanors, or administrative citations. Combustible fuels may be impounded by the Fire Marshal.
Vending on the pier or within 100 feet of the Pier remains prohibited.
