Agenda item 2B, Proclaim May as Bike Month Santa Monica! Dear Mayor, City Council and Staff:
Santa Monica Spoke and the Santa Monica Safe Streets Alliance would like to express an enthusiastic thank you for, once again, proclaiming May 2022 to be “Bike Month.” This proclamation helps demonstrate Santa Monica’s continual support to our entire community, and beyond, by promoting a vibrant culture of equitable, sustainable, and active mobility. The Council's proclamation is also an important affirmation of Santa Monica's commitment to a safer and healthier, multi-modal city.
We would also like to take a moment to give a heartfelt thank you to our talented and enthusiastic mobility staff for their leadership and tireless work implementing the community’s and City Council’s forward-thinking vision of safer streets that are inviting to everyone – adults, kids, youth, seniors, students, residents, workers and visitors – a city that aims to be welcoming, safer and healthier for everyone.
Though we are sorry that we are unable to attend tonight’s meeting in person, we and the community are thrilled to join you in spirit to celebrate this May of 2022 as Bike Month! With enthusiastic support,
