2 Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Smart Water Meters • Current Water Meter Infrastructure – 18,000+
accounts are manually read over 60-day cycle
• AMI Smart Water Meter Infrastructure
• Provide real time water consumption data to
customer and utility
• Could provide 5-7% in total water savings (500-600
acre-feet per year of water) from reduced residential
water leaks.
• More efficient billing process, customer self-usage
monitoring, and improved accuracy in meter reads.
3 AMI Scope Summary
• CIP Budget = $15 Million
• Contract/Scope of Services ($13.5 Million)
1. $4.87 Million = Replacement of ~12,444 meters to AMI compatible water meters and AMI transmitters.
2. $6.43 Million = Installation cost including labor, meter lid replacement, staging/storage, data migration, and line material survey
3. $430k = Project management, technical support, and new customer portal
4. $1.77 Million = Project contingency
• Software as a Service cost for 5 years = $300k
