Subject: Electrification of all new buildings
EXTERNAL
Dear Mayor and Councilmembers,
My goal in writing this email is to convince you that passing the electrification of all in new buildings in Santa Monica will be hugely beneficial, not only for the our wonderful city but for everyone who enjoys breathing and living above ground.
Economically it makes much more sense to invest in infrastructure that will not be replaced within the next 10 years. And from health and safety point of view we will be reducing our exposure to the toxic by-products of natural gas and also reducing the grave risks associated with earthquakes and gas explosions that seem to occur on a very regular basis Finally, if we as a small community which is part a larger community are serious about dealing with climate change then we have to stop using all fossil fuels immediately.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the earth's survival is in the balance and that passing electrification reach code is an important step towards ensuring the continued existence of the human species Tim Bowler

Subject: Public Comment for 27 Sept CC meeting agenda item 1 Dear City Council,
I'm writing to respond to Mayor Himmelrich's comments at the 13 September 2022 City Council/Housing Authority Board meeting regarding the Housing Commission's failure to provide input on recent housing related city documents.
I and other Housing Commissioners have expressed concern and frustration for at least six months that the Housing Commission has been omitted from the process of reviewing housing related city items. I have personally requested such Staff Administrative Items from Housing Commission Staff Liaison Noe Mendoza on multiple occasions, with no items or even projected items forthcoming.
Shortly after his hiring, I asked Noe Mendoza how the Staff Administrative Item calendar worked—was there a database or spreadsheet that generated or listed items to be addressed at approximately the same time each year? How did he know what to add to each agenda? He told me there was no such list and he relied on notification from other staff of such pending items. Again, none have been produced or announced for any forthcoming agenda.
Why has the Housing Commission, an advisory body tasked with reviewing housing related city documents and providing feedback on them to City Council and the Housing Authority Board, been removed from the process of reviewing and advising on such items? Who is responsible for this decision? And what will the City Council and City Manager do to remedy it?
The Housing Commission stands ready and waiting to provide feedback on city documents in our purview. To our great frustration, we have been prevented from doing so.
I look forward to your prompt investigation and swift remedy of this ongoing concern.
Thank you,
Michelle Gray
Chair,
Santa Monica Housing Commission

EXTERNAL
Dear Mayor Himmelrich and City Council Members:
I am making the public comment as a person of the public and not as the Vice Chair of the Housing Commission.
Dear Mayor Himmelrich and City Council Members:
My public input today is concerning Mayor Himmelrich's actions that have equated to union busting and her attempts to assassinate my character both during City Council meetings and privately to individuals and nonprofit organizations.
During the City Council meeting on May 10, 2022, Mayor Himmelrich made inflammatory and disparaging remarks that were slanderous in nature about me and the Chair of the Housing Commission, Michelle Gray regarding our positions and actions while on the Housing Commission.
On September 13, 2022, Mayor Himmelrich contacted an employee of Tenants Together, angry that they had written a letter of support for the proposed Client Advisory Board (CAB) that was submitted to the City Council regarding agenda item 7A for the September 13, 2022, City Council meeting. Mayor Himmelrich asked the nonprofit tenant organizer if Housing Commission Chair Michelle Gray and I were “behind” the letter of support for the CAB and then began an angry litany by stating that her husband was “thrown off” of the Housing Commission because she is the Mayor, that I/we bullied Commissioners, that I/we were trying to reduce the number of housing vouchers in Santa Monica, and that we were opposed to 100% affordable housing. None of those statements are true or in any way relevant to the letter of support for the CAB submitted by the Tenants Together organizer for agenda item 7A on September 13, 2022. Clearly, Mayor Himmelrich engaged in an act that is analogous to union busting and spreading false accusations she knew were not true. Mayor Himmelrich essentially tried to silence the voices of some of the most vulnerable community members in the city even though she purports to support low-income households.
I urge the City Attorney to ensure Mayor Himmelrich ceases her ongoing slanderous statements against me and other Housing Commission leadership. A formal cease and desist letter addressed to Mayor Himmelrich is forthcoming to stop disseminating false and defamatory statements about me.

Dear Santa Monica City Council,
Please demote Sue Himmelrich from the position of Mayor due to her ethical transgressions, bullying of Councilmembers, commissioners and members of the public, and engaging in actions similar to union busting (pertaining to the creation of the RAB/CAB).
