Dear Honorable Mayor Davis and Members of the City Council, Community Corp. is writing to express our support for Item 16B, to issue formal support of SB4, a bill introduced by Senator Scott Weiner and co‐sponsored by many affordable housing champions at the State Senate and Assembly. This is an important bill for affordable housing because it would unlock opportunity for affordable housing at many more properties throughout the state. In Santa Monica, it would potentially provide more opportunity to build affordable housing, in all the various parts of the city which would help further goals of Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing. The possibility of getting more housing built regionally and statewide will contribute to the overall need to provide solutions to housing unaffordability and homelessness. Santa Monica has been a champion of affordable housing but it will help other cities step up to produce more housing as well.
We urge you to support SB4. Thank you!
