Dear Santa Monica City Council Members;
I am writing on behalf of Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. (DTSM, Inc.) regarding Santa Monica City Council Agenda Item 10B, the Staff recommendation to amend Chapter 4.68 of the Municipal Code to add one additional 5K, one additional 10K race route, and to adjust the start time for races to begin at 7AM.
The DTSM, Inc. Board of Directors has not taken a specific position on this item. However, DTSM, Inc. strongly supports our local business community and all efforts to have residents and visitors engage in Downtown Santa Monica. Adding additional routes that begin at the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue will bring thousands of racers and their supporters to Downtown, and DTSM, Inc. commits to working with race organizers and our local businesses to encourage pre‐race events and finishing events in Downtown.
