Hello,
My name is Linda H, and I support Measure A. I strongly encourage Santa Monica City Council to support Measure A as well. I work in the City of Santa Monica and see firsthand the impacts of services-led approaches for people experiencing homelessness in the city. We need more resources for homelessness prevention, including affordable housing and rental assistance; we need to protect the lifesaving housing and homeless services we have that are at risk of ending, and we need more accountability. Measure A will do all of these things. I urge the Council to vote yes on 16A.
Sincerely,
Linda H

One of Los Angeles County’s largest housing and social services agencies and present in every Service Planning Area (SPA), The People Concern is an expert in connecting with people on the streets, bringing them inside and then keeping them inside. 92% of people placed in permanent housing by The People Concern never experience homelessness again. The People Concern is proud to have worked in the City of Santa Monica for over 60 years.
The People Concern has endorsed Measure A and supports the proposed endorsement by the City of Santa Monica. Measure A would help prevent homelessness by increasing the supply of aƯordable housing and providing rental assistance. The measure would protect services funded in the City of Santa Monica including street outreach, interim housing, services in permanent supportive housing, mental health services, and more; without Measure A these services would end when Measure H expires in 2027. Importantly, Measure A creates strong new accountability measures, including legally required goals and a requirement for stronger data sharing and evaluation.
We support Measure A and urge the council to vote yes.
