Dear Santa Monica City Council,
I am writing to express my opposition to Agenda Item 16F. This measure, introduced by Councilmember Oscar de la Torre, appears to be little more than a self-serving attempt to portray himself as "holier than thou." Given his track record of not being able to control his own temper on the dais, it is ironic that he is now pushing for this measure.
As a final act before leaving office, this measure seems unnecessary and is nothing but a waste of the council’s time and taxpayer resources. The only members of this body who have demonstrated issues with maintaining decorum are soon to be out of office. There is no need for this symbolic gesture, especially when the council has far more pressing matters to address.
I urge you to vote against this item and focus on issues that truly serve the interests of Santa Monica residents.
