Why did Santa Monica Mayor Lana Negrete, City Council and Police Chief Ramon Batista remain silent 2 days and refuse to appear and comment on the gun shootings at the 3rd St. Promenade and Fairmont Miramar Hotel, and hide the recent beating by a trainer of a visitor in Reed Park in front of his wife that resulted in his 2 brain surgeries? These incidents are NOT "isolated and random." Why did then-Councilwoman Lana Negrete conceal her knowledge of a woman's rape at the 1212 Restaurant last year? Restaurant owners and 80% of retailers on the Promenade and Downtown describe assaults, overdoses and drunkenness on a regular basis, and unrestrained walk-in theft every day. Why don't Mayor Negrete, the City Council and Police admit Santa Monica has a severe problem, and assure residents and businesses of their commitment to restoring safety and the need for adequate Police funding to do so. "It's a daily living hell", complained one employee of the Westside Comedy Club (facing the alleyway between Arizona and SM Blvd.).

Dear Mayor Lana Negrete and Santa Monica City Council Members As a long-standing resident and electric vehicle driver in Santa Monica, I am compelled to express my deep frustration regarding the deteriorating state of public EV charging infrastructure, particularly at Parking Structure 6.
What was once a model for sustainable transportation has become a symbol of neglect. Of the original 30 charging stations, fewer than half are operational. Many have been vandalized and left unrepaired.
Compounding the issue, Tesla adapters are frequently left locked in place, rendering the chargers unusable for other EV drivers. These adapters are often jammed, making removal impossible without specialized tools.
Despite multiple reports and direct communications from myself and fellow residents, there has been a complete lack of response or action from the city.
This situation is unacceptable. Immediate steps must be taken to:
Repair or replace non-functional charging stations.
Implement and enforce policies to prevent Tesla adapters from being left locked in place.
Establish clear accountability for the maintenance and functionality of EV charging infrastructure.
Santa Monica's commitment to sustainability is undermined when essential infrastructure is allowed to fall into disrepair. I urge you to address these issues promptly to restore confidence in the city's dedication to green initiatives.
