Re: A Request that the City Council Consider Directing the City Manager to Create an Online Portal and Mapping Feature to Track the Application Status and Progress of all Development Entities Taking Advantage of the New Off-Site Affordable Housing Pilot Incentive Program
At our August 12 council meeting, the City Council adopted an off-site affordable housing pilot incentive program. Through that new program, up to 1,000 units of previously approved housing units can apply to modify their existing affordable housing requirements by either 1) relocating those units to an off-site location; 2) perform substantial rehabilitation of existing units; or 3) pay the City an established in-lieu fee.
Given the way in which this program could expand large-scale construction activity throughout the City, I have an interest in ensuring that the public is kept fully aware of where these projects could advance. In that way, if the incentive program activates additional multi-family development activity, residents will know the location of the pending construction projects.
Accordingly, I would like the City Council to consider my request that the City Manager create an online portal and mapping feature to track the application status and progress of all development entities that have submitted an application utilizing the off-site affordable housing pilot incentive program.
Please place this item on the September 9 agenda for full City Council consideration.
