Honorable Mayor and City Council members, I served on the Aging and Disability Action Plan Advisory Committee and encourage your approval of the plan’s strategic goals. My particular interest is in the areas of communication and housing.
Communication about the wide array of available local social services and City programs is a vexing challenge.
The “digital divide,” particularly for this plan’s target populations, only increases the problem. I urge you to encourage the participation of staff from every City Department in the implementation of the plan’s goals for communication and outreach.
Local social services providers and community members alike expressed concern about a woeful lack of affordable “what’s next?” residential options for people as their need for personal assistance increases. In addition to the housing goals included in the report, I urge the City to investigate innovative approaches being used around the world to create affordable retirement social housing with options for increasing levels of care.
I’d like to thank City staff-in particular Alana Riemermann-and the Consulting team of Elizabeth Anderson, Abbe Land, Jason Harley, and Rachel Behl. Their creative approach captured diverse community voices and kept the advisory group on task in a tight timeline!

All of the well through out and tirelessly worked on updates and information will benefit our Senior and Aging residents and reflect real time needs and constituent's feedback.
