Harvest Home || where new lives begin

Item 5-F

Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Harvest Home transforms the lives of unhoused pregnant women and their children by providing safe housing, supportive services, and programs that equip them to thrive as new mothers. In Los Angeles— where thousands of women experience homelessness during pregnancy and specialized shelter beds remain scarce—our work is essential. Our trauma‑informed model includes case management, mental health support, parenting education, and community connection for families navigating some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Our impact is strengthened by partners who share our commitment to dignity, safety, and opportunity.

Waymo is one of those partners. In their time operating in Santa Monica, Waymo has demonstrated a genuine investment in the wellbeing of local residents that extends far beyond transportation. Their engagement shows our families that innovative companies see their potential and are willing to stand alongside them on their path toward stability.

Waymo’s support has been meaningful and consistent—from contributing financially to our programs and participating in our Broadway Voices Unite benefit concert, to showing up at community events.

Notably, their support began even before they were fully operational, underscoring a sincere commitment to strengthening the communities in which they operate. I see Waymo vehicles in our neighborhood every day, and I have peace of mind knowing they offer a safe, reliable, and accessible mobility option. Waymo has provided hundreds of free rides for the pregnant women and new mothers we serve, many of whom lack dependable transportation to attend medical appointments, job interviews, classes, and other essential activities. For them, this is not a convenience; it is a lifeline.

Harvest Home strongly supports Waymo as they continue expanding their services across Southern California. Any disruption to Waymo’s operations in Santa Monica would directly affect the families we serve, limiting their access to a transportation resource that supports their safety, independence, and progress. Reliable mobility is foundational to stability, and Waymo’s service offers our residents peace of mind as they work toward long‑term self‑sufficiency.
