2 Small, repeat visits are the lifeblood of downtown businesses like fitness studios, salons, cafés, and quick-service restaurants. Reducing free parking from 90 minutes to 30 minutes discourages exactly those visits.
I urge the Council to reconsider this policy and restore parking options that support short, repeat visits and help keep local dollars in Santa Monica. Policies that make it easier, not harder, for people to visit downtown will ultimately benefit both small businesses and the city as a whole.
