Subject: Your 2026 National Grant Program Grant
EXTERNAL
Dear Ms Sofia Klatzker:
Congratulations! After careful review, the National Trust for Historic Preservation is pleased to award Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division a 2026 National Grant Program grant from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund for $50,000.00 to implement the Bay Street Beach Historical District Signage project. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to support your critically important work through the generosity of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, The J. Paul Getty Trust, The Gardiner Foundation and others.
We plan to publicly announce all of this year’s grants at one time, so please keep the news of your award confidential until after the National Trust makes a public announcement on July 21 at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time. We are working with specific national press outlets on exclusive arrangements for the release of all 2026 grantees, so it is very important that this information is not released to the public prior to the official public announcement. Attached is a promotional toolkit to be used on or after Tuesday, July 21st. This toolkit will include hashtags, handles and language for acknowledging the Action Fund in your promotion and celebration of this grant.
We will contact you with next steps by the end of this month. We look forward to continuing to provide technical assistance to your organization as your project moves forward. Should you have any questions, you can reach out to us at [email protected].
Again, we are delighted to congratulate your organization, and we thank you for your efforts to preserve African American history and culture. The work your organization is doing to tell the full American story is energizing and inspiring. We look forward to our partnership and working with you to advance your organizational goals.
Sincerely,
Erica Smith-Goetz
