Subject: [EXTERNAL] Support for today’s Parklet Program vote Date: Tuesday, June 7, 2022 8:48:33 AM
Hello,
I’m writing in support of the Parklet Program. Public spaces should serve us all in many ways, and by creating more vibrant, enjoyable spaces in our business corridors, parklets and outdoor seating help do just that. Downtown Santa Rosa has ample parking, and the street adjacent spots (of course not including ADA spots) should be re-envisioned for use as parklets, bike lanes, and in general better use than strictly for car storage. Particularly along 4th street in downtown, you can feel the impact of these increased outdoor dining options and can note the lack in other parts of downtown. I hope this program moves forward, and that we continue to challenge how our streets and other public spaces can be better utilized for and by everyone.
Sincerely,
Lauren Alpert

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Yes on Making Parklets Permanent
Date: Tuesday, June 7, 2022 10:13:52 AM
Dear Council Members,
Making the parklets permanent is one of the best things we can do for our City! I am a 30 year Santa Rosa resident and I have been so sad to see our downtown deteriorate over the years. Parklets add so much vitality to street life and will draw more people downtown.
They are also a smart move in looking toward a future with a potential for more pandemics and the need for better ventilated spaces.
I would like to see a way for the City of Santa Rosa to subsidize or otherwise assist business owners to create and maintain parklets.
It is essential that they also be aesthetically pleasing. One suggestion is that the planters and trees on main streets such as Fourth Street, be considered a part of the parklet package (many of the plants are water stressed or dead and it is not a good optic for the City).
Yay for permanent parklets!
with respect,
Janet Barocco

I read the council is discussing the option of allowing the downtown restaurants to keep their outdoor parklets.
I live downtown and work from home. I love the increased outdoor seating. I've been following our county's covid numbers since the beginning of the pandemic, and while things
are looking up recently, the current numbers give me pause when considering indoor dining.
We don't know what the future will bring. I support the parklets staying. It's good for downtown restaurants and brings more folks downtown to shop at the stores. The parking lots and garages are plenty for most folks who are able to walk short distances. We don't need the street parking being lost to this parklets.
Please support outdoor dining downtown!
Thank you,
