1 BACKGROUND
California Code Regulation Title 2, section 570.5
(CalPERS)
Council must approve and adopt a “pay schedule”
 Each time any pay rate is amended
 Identifies all titles, pay rates and effective dates
 Must be a stand-alone document
Council most recently approved a Salary Plan and
Schedule on 7/26/22.
2 PROPOSAL
• An updated Salary Plan and Schedule is needed
• to make administrative corrections to the current
schedule and
• reflect the elimination of the Bus Operator
Trainee classification and corresponding pay
range, in order to attract candidates and retain
Bus Operators during the training period.
3 RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended by the Human Resources
Department that Council, by resolution,
approve and adopt the City’s Salary Plan and
Schedule, correcting an administrative error and
eliminating the Bus Operator Trainee
classification and compensation.
