Thank for the opportunity comment. I am a resident in the Montgomery Village area and I wish to strongly encourage the Council's approval of the resolution authorizing the application of a Prohousing Designation from the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
I applaud the City for all the efforts it's already undertaken to accelerate the development of affordable housing, which have clearly contributed to the likelihood of this application being successful.
I hope the City will continue to evaluate and adopt additional policies to facilitate faster housing development, particularly dense housing in and around downtown, as well as additional measures to provide the energy, transportation, and community infrastructure these developments will need to thrive.
We have a generational opportunity – and responsibility – to invest in a more equitable, vibrant, and resilient future for our community.
