RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR $15,900,000 IN FUNDING FROM CYCLE 6 OF THE TRANSIT AND INTERCITY RAIL CAPITAL PROGRAM WHEREAS, the State of California Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) was created by Senate Bill 862 and modified by Senate Bill 9 to provide grants from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to fund transformative capital improvements that will modernize California’s rail, bus, and ferry systems to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases; and WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Transportation Authority intends to submit a joint application on behalf of Santa Rosa CityBus, Sonoma County Transit, and SMART for funding from Cycle 6 of the TIRCP program; and WHEREAS, Santa Rosa CityBus wishes to participate in the joint application to seek funding for eligible activities including purchase of battery-electric replacement buses, implementation of bus charging and resiliency infrastructure, and upgrades to transit hubs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa Rosa authorizes the City to submit a joint application with the Sonoma County Transportation Authority on behalf of the City of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County Transit, and SMART for grant funds totaling $15,900,00 for the City from the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program Cycle 6.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the Director of Transportation and Public Works, or his designee, to file and execute all documents necessary to apply for and obtain TIRCP Cycle 6 funding in the estimated amount of $15,900,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the Chief Financial Officer to increase appropriations equal to the successfully awarded TIRCP grant funds to the appropriate JL Key(s).
