Dear Santa Rosa City Council,
I am a Santa Rosa resident living in District 5, and I am writing to you today to implore the council to take action and listen to their constituents calling for a ceasefire resolution for the people living in occupied Palestine. The citizens of Gaza have faced months of collective punishment by the Israeli government and are denied their right to the land they call home, displacing millions and murdering tens of thousands, and leaving millions more at risk of mass starvation. After months of urging from your constituents, the council remains unmoved by the devastation occuring in Gaza despite updates circulating social media on a near-daily basis about the conditions in Palestine. We are disingenuously fed lies about the war on Palestine not being a local issue, despite the billions of OUR dollars we know are sent overseas in aid to Israel. We must end our complicity and participation in the genocide of the Palestinian people, and call for a permanent ceasefire on the local level, then the state level, and the federal level.
