RESOLUTION NO. RES-2024-144
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA APPROVING THE 10-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT PROGRAM UNTIL JUNE 30, 2035, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENTS AND AMENDMENTS WITH THE SONOMA COUNTY ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT SERVICE AUTHORITY WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority was formed in 1995; and WHEREAS, the Council, by Resolutions 22142, 26120 and 28543, has extended the Sonoma County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program in 10-year increments, and the program was last extended to 2025; and WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program is set to expire June 30, 2025; and WHEREAS, State legislation allows for an extension for the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program with the approval of the county and a majority of the cities comprising a majority of the population of the incorporated areas within the county; and WHEREAS, the Sonoma County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program has allowed for the abatement within the City of an average of 1,000 abandoned vehicles per year during the last three fiscal years; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to the City of Santa Rosa to have the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program continue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa Rosa approves the extension of the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program until June 30, 2035. ///

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the City Manager to execute agreements and amendments associated with the Sonoma County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority on behalf of the City of Santa Rosa, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
