Good morning~
It is impossible to drive through Santa Rosa and not be inundated by the sheer number of massage businesses advertising with neon lights that are open well beyond any legitimate massage business would be open. We all know they are offering far more than a massage at 10PM. Between the cannabis stores and massage parlors is that all we offer nowadays? I’ve been here for nearly 4 decades and this can’t be the optimal and desirable direction we’ve chosen for the city of Santa Rosa.
Per the May 2024 article in the PD I’m wondering if there have been any inroads to rewrite and pass new ordinances governing these? Just drive down Montgomery Drive (one and two blocks from Providence, no less) and 4th Street and downtown SR. Not exactly making a great case for young families to move here, are we? Thank you for your time~

Good morning,
(concerned citizens names Bcc for privacy)
I recently received an update from Councilmember Okerpkie on the status of the massage business issue. The Santa Rosa Planning Department is reviewing proposed ordinance changes in
consultation with the city attorney's office and others. The process is time‐consuming, as
business impacts, legal compliance, and other
associated issues need to be considered.
Thankfully, Councilmembers Okrepkie and Fleming are highly responsive and remain actively engaged with this issue. While the process is slow, it's moving forward. With that in mind, please mark your calendars. On 10/15, at 9:00 AM in the
City Council Chamber, Director of Planning and
Economic Development Gabe Osburn & SRPD Chief John Cregan will update the Public Safety Subcommittee on the issue. Link to Public Safety Subcommittee meeting details
I hope we get a big turnout, which will demonstrate our continued concern over the issue and show our City Council and dedicated City of Santa Rosa staff how much their work is appreciated.
Have a great day,
Kurtis
