Subject: [EXTERNAL] Fiscal Irresponsibility!
Date: Monday, June 16, 2025 11:37:44 AM
A large majority of California's population today is struggling with increases in rent, utilities, food, medical expenses, coupled with layoffs! So, WHY, would the City announce a $20 million deficit in the Santa Rosa City budget and yet continue with ANY large capital project.

The County announces a huge deficit, along with layoffs, but is willing to spend $47 million on 2 new office buildings.

Ridiculous.

We have adopted pension plans that are not sustainable, counted on temporary funds that are being discontinued, and continue to expect the taxpayers to just keep paying more for the budget mistakes.

In addition, the Smart train would like an extension on tax, the City is considering an increase in sales tax, the County and State are not far behind.

It is my opinion we need to pull back and adopt a slimmed down budget that can be adjusted when/if we ever have a surplus.

Skip the new buildings, skip the layoffs,
and tighten your belts. I will be voting NO on any new tax.
