RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA APPROVING AN
AGREEMENT WITH GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION
DISTRICT FOR LEASE OF SIX GILLIG HYBRID TRANSIT BUSES AND AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGERDIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC WORKS TO
EXECUTE THE LEASE AGREEMENT
WHEREAS the City of Santa Rosa Transit Division is experiencing an emergent need for additional transit fleet vehicles due to acute fleet availability challenges; and
WHEREAS the City of Santa Rosa Transit Division has a total of twelve transit buses on order that will not be delivered for 6-12 months; and
WHEREAS the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (GGBHTD) has transit buses available for lease and has received approval from the Federal Transit Administration to enter into short-term vehicle leases with other public transit providers; and
WHEREAS the GGBHTD has agreed to lease six Gillig hybrid transit buses to the City of Santa Rosa for an initial period of one year, with the opportunity to extend, to meet Santa Rosa CityBus transit service needs; and
WHEREAS the City of Santa Rosa has notified the Federal Transit Administration of its desire to lease six buses from the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, for an initial term of one year with the option to extend, in an amount not to exceed $125,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Rosa Transit Division has funds available from its annual allocation of state Transportation Development Act Article IV funds for the proposed lease.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa Rosa authorizes the Director of Transportation and Public Works to negotiate and execute an agreement, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney, with the GGBHTD to lease six Gillig hybrid transit buses for an initial term of one year with the option to extend, in an amount not to exceed $125,000.
