RESOLUTION NO. RES-2025-164
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ROSA ADOPTING COUNCIL POLICY 000-75 TITLED “CITY ASSET NAMING AND RENAMING POLICY” WHEREAS, the City of Santa Rosa desires to create a comprehensive policy that allows for the recognition of places, history, persons, organizations, events and the natural environment when naming or renaming City Assets; and WHEREAS, currently there is no comprehensive naming or renaming policy covering all City Assets; and WHEREAS, a comprehensive policy is needed to ensure that a process and procedure exists to provide consistent methodology for evaluating requests; and WHEREAS, Council adopted Policy 000-25 titled “Park Naming Policy and Procedure” on November 14, 1989, with subsequent amendments dated December 6, 1994, and December 23, 1997; and WHEREAS, new streets are named during the subdivision entitlement process in conformance with the adopted Street Design and Construction Standards; and WHEREAS, this resolution only applies to naming or renaming requests associated with City Assets included in the policy, including parks, recreational facilities, city buildings and facilities, right-of-ways; and WHEREAS, the policy provides guidance and procedure associated with requests to establish memorials and donations in memoriam. / / /

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa Rosa hereby adopts Council Policy Number 000-75 titled “City Asset Naming and Renaming Policy,” attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council rescinds Council Policy 000-25.
