Subject: [EXTERNAL] 101 Bike/Ped Overcrossing
Dear Mayor Stapp and Councilmembers,
I support the city doing what is necessary to complete the long-overdue bicycle and pedestrian crossing over 101 at Coddingtown. This is an absolutely necessary project to better connect the east and west sides of the city. I currently cross under the 101 freeway on my bike and it is extremely unsafe! The freeway onramp crosses through the bike lane at every 101 crossing point I've tried. Santa Rosa needs to address this major safety risk and better connect neighborhoods to promote safe, affordable, environmentally friendly transit. This project needs to be prioritized.
Sincerely,
Sky Biblin

Dear mayor Stapp and council members,
I understand the bids for the HWY 101 over crossing are higher than the original estimates.
Please do all you can to find a way to get the funds and get this very important project completed. Delaying this should not be an option. The value to us pedestrians and cyclists for safety and access over the highway is a huge benefit to all Santa Rosans.
Thanks for your consideration to this matter. Mario De Bello Live and let live...

It is so important to continue with the bridge project. When it is completed it will be the safest way for people to access East, West travel on foot, or bike, or wheelchair, without having to interact with motor vehicles. Santa Rosa has been unsafe for pedestrian traffic for far to long.

Dear Mayor Stapp and Councilmembers,
I don’t see a viable alternative. The cost of building pedestrian overpasses will only continue to rise. The world’s best cities prioritize safe, accessible pedestrian infrastructure, and that investment pays off in safety, mobility, and quality of life. It’s time for Santa Rosa to make that commitment.
Thank you.

Dear Mayor Stapp and Councilmembers,
I strongly encourage recognition of this project as an essential keystone element of our city's bicycle path network to reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT) as required to address climate emergency resolution 2020-002. Recent approval of the Jennings Avenue SMART crossing should prioritize this east-west connectivity to give northern Santa Rosa residents safe, climate- friendly access to Santa Rosa Junior College, the north SMART station, and the Coddingtown shopping and transit center.

As a resident of Santa Rosa, parent and full time worker in the healthcare sector, I write today, to respectfully ask that you support the plans to build the Hwy 101 overcrossing between SRJC neighborhood and northwest Santa Rosa.
This project is much needed, will increase non-vehicular access across the freeway and is what I hope my children and their children will enjoy for years to come.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] 101 Pedestrian/Bicycle Overpass
Dear Mayor Stapp and all Councilmembers,
PLEASE figure out a way to rearrange funds so that the overpass can finally be built. So many of us have fought long and hard to make this a reality. The costs will never go down. It is a long-overdue connector that is necessary to make Santa Rosa a truly pedestrian/bicycle accessible town, to put us on the map as a truly green & affordable place to live, work, and raise kids by living OFF THE FREEWAY because it's POSSIBLE here!! Think of all the praise and beneficial attention it will bring to our community!!
THANK YOU for your consideration of this very important matter.
Yours very sincerely,
Dr. Carla Deicke Grady

This is worth reorganizing funds to make sure it happens. Bike & Pedestrian connectivity across 101 without having to navigate the terrors of going under 101 at Guerneville/Steele Lane is paramount. I used to bike from the JC neighborhood to Comstock Middle School daily and it was extremely scary. While my commute has changed, my kids are of the age where they get around on their own and want to go to Coddingtown. Please keep them safe.

To whom it may concern:
I have heard that the planned 101 bike/pedestrian overcrossing cost may be higher than expected, and I wanted to share my support of moving forward with the project despite the cost. As a resident of Santa Rosa living near West College Ave who relies on a bike as my primary transportation, I would love to see this safe connection to the other side of the city. It would be a relief to have a safer way to get places with my 1-year-old who frequently travels on the bike with me, and I know it will benefit so many others too. Now is the time to build this connection and show the people of our city that they are valued regardless of what mode of travel they use.
Thank you for taking the time to let me share my thoughts.
Peace,

Re: 101 Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing
Dear Mayor Stapp and Councilmembers,
Please take steps to insur e that the planned Highway 101 b icycle and pedestrian overcrossing is completely funded and completed, even if it requires reallocating priorities and funding for other projects. This overcross ing in needed to improve safety and encourag e citizens to use forms of transportation other than automobiles. Transition away from fossil fuel powered forms of transportation is mandatory if we are serious about confronting climate change.
