Dear Mayor and Members of the Santa Rosa City Council,

On behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County, I want to express our appreciation for the City's continued leadership in recognizing that housing is economic development.

We are encouraged by Santa Rosa's commitment to addressing the current housing climate through thoughtful planning and innovative solutions, including the exploration of AB 1033 and SB 10. These tools have the potential to create new housing choices, expand pathways to homeownership, and support the kind of infill development that strengthens our downtown while making the most of existing infrastructure.

At Habitat for Humanity, we see every day how safe, affordable homeownership transforms lives, strengthens neighborhoods, and contributes to long-term economic stability. Creating more housing means creating more opportunities for people to stay, live, work, and thrive in the community they call home. When families can afford to put down roots, our neighborhoods, workforce, and local economy all benefit.

The housing challenges facing Sonoma County require collaboration, creativity, and a shared commitment to action. We are encouraged by the City's direction and look forward to future opportunities to work together to expand affordable housing options, strengthen neighborhoods, support economic development, and help more families achieve stability and build a brighter future.

Thank you for your leadership and continued commitment to addressing Santa Rosa's housing needs.

Sincerely,
Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County
