The Cannery in Santa Rosa
Evidence indicates Luxurious welfare apartment complex known as The Cannnery being used to house drug users, drug dealers and other trash.
Expounding on my comments from the last city council meeting with more details. This is in regards to the large high end welfare apartment called The Cannery newly completed in Railroad Square using the historic brick façade and something like $70 million in State housing subsidy funds. A female resident who remains anonymous has the following to say, claiming it is a “drug den” and really going to hell even though it is near new:
Resident:
“I know this is a long shot, but does anyone here live at or know anyone at the Cannery? I'm wanting to stay anonymous so if there's anyone from there who is willing to discuss the issues and there's quite a few, let me know.
There's a few of us who chit chat there but staying anonymous prevents backlash.
The place has so many issues. One of the biggest is maintenance. Close to half the building wants him gone.
He's pervy and makes a lot of US women uncomfortable. You don't have to be, especially in a place you should feel safe and you call home.
I want to have a safe place where we can discuss the issues without anyone knowing exactly who's who.
Feel free to message or reply…”
Resident (In response to being told to contact the management):
“I have. A lot of us have. Property Management does absolutely nothing. The police won't do anything. The place is a drug den. It's 2 years old and it's already getting dilapidated. It's not easy to just move. Especially when you're low income. Some people are on section 8 and can't leave. The city isn't transferring choice vouchers like they said they would. So many of us are locked in. What I am hoping for is other people who live there to discuss the issues. There's a very small group of us who actually care about where we live. Management is useless. There is a huge part of the problem. I'm hoping for real change. This was and still could be a great building and great place to live. If we band together something can hopefully change.” Resident (In response to being told to contact the corporate office):
“Yes! A few people have sent emails for a paper trail with pictures of the property. We have called and they say that it will be looked into and nothing gets done. There was a big drug bust in June. That was minor compared to the daily goings on. The City came and did their section 8 inspections on some units, but I didn't get an inspection letter so I didn't get to talk to them when they came, but a few people said they tried to tell them and they blew everything off. The inspectors only wanted to know if smoke detectors worked, and left. Inspections were a joke. The building is 2yrs old and it's seriously a disgusting mess. It seems like people want it to be trashy. It's like a status symbol for them. “
The report of this anonymous resident is entirely credible. Note that she refences the Drug Bust in June. That is documented. The Police Dept sent out statement on it and there was an article published by SF Gate:

Article excerpt: “…an apartment complex near West Third Street and the railroad tracks… months-long investigation by the SRPD narcotics team. Detectives executed search warrants for four separate apartments inside the complex simultaneously. Officers seized over five ounces of cocaine, scales, packaging materials, and illicit cash. They also recovered an unregistered, privately made "ghost gun" equipped with a threaded barrel. Police identified and targeted an organized group distributing narcotics throughout Santa Rosa. They arrested multiple individuals on the scene—including suspects caught outside the building—while tracking outstanding members of the ring."

Search Warrant Leads to Narcotics and Firearms Arrests.
In April 2026, detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Narcotics Team began an investigation into a group of individuals distributing cocaine in Santa Rosa and its surrounding areas. The involved individuals were identified as 27-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Alexander Lane-Carroll, 26-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Tyler Ditty, 29-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Keith Adams, and an unknown Hispanic male adult, later identified as 42-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Joshua Matias.
On 6/9/26, at approximately 1040 hours, officers from the Special Enforcement Team (SET) detained Ditty outside his apartment in the area of West Third St./tracks, Santa Rosa. The officers were familiar with Ditty and knew he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
At approximately 1245 hours, Officers from the Downtown Enforcement Team (DET) detained Matias, pursuant to a search warrant, outside the same apartment complex. At that time, detectives from the SRPD Narcotics Team, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Team, and Gang Crimes Team, as well as officers from SET and DET executed the service of search warrants at four apartments in that complex, which included Ditty’s.
Detectives located a privately manufactured firearm that was equipped with a threaded barrel in Matias’ apartment. Detectives located approximately four and a half ounces of suspected cocaine, packaging materials, digital scales, and US currency in an apartment related to Ditty and Adams. Adams was not home at the time of this search warrant. Detectives located approximately one ounce of suspected cocaine in an apartment related to Ditty and LaneCarroll. Lane-Carroll was not home at the time of this search warrant. At a fourth related apartment, detectives detained three individuals in which two were in possession of suspected methamphetamine and associated paraphernalia. Those two individuals were identified as 46- year-old Santa Rosa resident, Kendra Smith, and 47-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Joshua Terry.
Ditty was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following violations:
• 11351 H&S – Possession of a Narcotic for Sale.
• Outstanding Warrant.
Matias was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following violations:
• 30505 PC – Possession of an Assault Weapon.
• 29180 PC - Possession of an Unregistered Firearm/Ghost Gun.
Smith was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following violations:
• 11377 H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Terry was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail for the following violations:
• 11377 H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance.
• 1203.2 PC – Felony Violation of Pre-trial Terms.
So if you add this all up it points to you Communists putting drug users and drug dealers on welfare and into these luxury Section 8 apartments, and according the credible resident who wants to remain anonymous it continues to remain a “DRUG DEN” and thanks to City of Santa Rosa incompetence and indifference, remains unaddressed.
