CM Lind participated in several planning meetings for the Scotts Valley July 4th Parade. The parade will be at 1:00 PM and anyone interested in participating or volunteering can visit the City's website for more information (www.scottsvalley.gov).

CM Lind attended the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District (METRO) Board Meeting where they discussed the budget, and specifically they discussed strategies for handling the unfunded pension liability.

CM Lind assisted with the Chambers Business Showcase held at Bruno's, which was a networking event involving the Scotts Valley Chamber, the San Lorenzo Valley Chamber, and Think Local First.

CM Timms attended a meeting of the Santa Cruz County Integrated Waste Management Local Taskforce. This committee is comprised many new members, so they are familiarizing everyone with the functions of the taskforce and are considering doing some tours of the facilities.

Mayor Dilles attended a housing forum hosted by Housing Santa Cruz County and Lookout Santa Cruz.

Mayor Dilles, along with CM Timm, attended a meeting of the pension subcommittee.

They heard a presentation and discussion by Shuster Advisory Group and had a subsequent discussion.

Mayor Dilles attended the Be the Difference Volunteer Awards Luncheon. Many individuals and organizations were honored, including 1440 Multiversity.

Mayor Dilles, along with CM Johnson, attended the budget subcommittee meeting where they received a presentation by staff and asked questions about the staff's projections and assumptions.

Mayor Dilles attended a meeting of the Santa Margarita Groundwater Agency where they received updates on dry season streamflow monitoring results for 2022, and also a groundwater sustainability update.

Mayor Dilles, along with CM Timms, attended the Economic Development subcommittee meeting where they had further discussion about local business outreach and, with assistance from City Manager LaGoe, they produced talking points for this purpose.

Mayor Dilles filled in for CM Johnson at the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) meeting where they received public testimony regarding the Highway 1 auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements from State Park Drive to Freedom Boulevard, and they received a report on the coastal rail trail segment 12. They also heard a staff presentation regarding grant funds for the RTC to assist lower income residents in purchasing e-bikes with vouchers, and implementing a bike sharing program in parts of the county.

CM Timm attended the Pension Subcommittee, and he thanked the staff for bringing in Shuster & Associates as their options for managing the pension 115 trust were DocuSign Envelope ID: 416FDBB9-2F85-41CA-9B66-7A6D691D0568 City Council Meeting Minutes

compelling.

Public Works: In collaboration with the Santa Cruz County Recreation Division, a partnership and subsequent Memorandum of Understanding is in development for the County to operate programs at the Siltanen Pool this summer. Pending approval from the Board of Supervisors this month, the pool could be open for summer programming starting in July.

Recreation Brochure: The new brochures hit mailboxes last week! Brochures are available at all city offices for anyone who needs one.

Engineering: The engineering staff have been participating in meetings with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on the two emergency slides in Scotts Valley. They are proceeding with the design efforts and other necessary work for repairs. This is a slow process, but it is moving forward.

Maintenance Department: The Maintenance staff are transitioning to the summer schedule, which means staff are assigned to weekends to ensure that the public spaces are clean and maintained throughout the heavier-usage summer season.

Future Agenda Item Request Update: - At the 5/17 Council Meeting, CM Lind requested that staff prepare a letter of opposition to Assembly Bill 742 regarding the use of police canines. Luckily, this legislation died last week due to strong opposition from across California.

Administrative Services Department: The Administrative Services Department staff are busy preparing for the closing of the fiscal year while also implementing a new payroll system.

Grand Jury Reports: The Santa Cruz County Grand Jury just released their series of reports that require responses from the City of Scotts Valley. Staff will coordinate these responses and present them to the Council in August.

CruzAware: This is the new countywide emergency alert system that replaced the CodeRed system. The City of Scotts Valley is actively sharing out the information so that people know that they need to take action and sign up for the new system.

Community Development Department and the Housing Element: The Housing Element is currently in the 30-day public comment period, so the Community Development Department staff are busy responding to any comments that are received.

Public comment was received from Cynthia Dzendzel, a resident of Scotts Valley. Ms.

Dzendzel introduced herself because she has been communicating with the Council Members and wanted to introduce herself in person.
