CM Lind attended the planning committee meeting for the Art, Wine, and Beer Festival which will be held on August 19th and 20th. The business and non-profit spots are almost full, and the Cops n’ Rodders registration will close this week.

CM Timms attended a meeting of the Area Agency on Aging. The new incoming director of Meals on Wheels, Darren Daley, was in attendance. An agreement has been reached between the Seniors Council and the Live Oak School District regarding the facility, so the eviction will be pushed back two years.

CM Timms attended a meeting of the Youth Action Network. The Childrens Network and the Youth Action Network are merging. There was a discussion about creating a children/youth bill of rights. Santa Cruz County, Santa Cruz City, and Capitola have already adopted this bill of rights; and there was a request for Scotts Valley to consider adopting this at a future session. They also discussed appointing a youth liaison to attend the City Council meetings.

CM Timms attended a Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) meeting where they voted to approve the merger of the Scotts Valley Fire Protection District and the Branciforte Fire Protection District. The Measure T funds ($165k/year) that are part of the Branciforte Fire District will be administered by an advisory council. CM Timms has been nominated as a voting member of the California Association of Local Agency Formation Commissions (CALAFCO), and the elections will be held later this year in Monterey.

CM Timm attended his first Visit Santa Cruz Board meeting as a Board Member. The new CEO for Visit Santa Cruz is Terence Concannon. CM Timm thanked City Manager LaGoe for serving on the interview search committee. They have a new program that will allow Visit Santa Cruz to view the bookings and hotel rates in real time.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Hearing: A public hearing for the CDBG program was scheduled for this meeting and all of the required notifications were published/posted. However, last week we were notified that the state decided to change the eligibility criteria for this current round of funding. The state will only be considering applications that were previously submitted, which means that we are no longer eligible to apply for this round of funding. We will prepare for the January application period, and the public hearing will most likely be rescheduled for DocuSign Envelope ID: 392C1108-83F1-48B7-B3FD-D1A1425E0AC1 City Council Meeting Minutes
