CITY MANAGER REPORT

PUBLIC COMMENT TIME
Members' reports, and he particularly found the Wildfire Preparedness event relevant and necessary.

Appreciation of Staff: City Manager LaGoe reiterated the Council's appreciation for the work that staff has been doing. Public Works sends daily updates to the City Manager regarding work that is happening around the City, and it ranges from covering graffiti to fixing signs, and much more. She also gave a huge shout out to the Wastewater crew for working overtime as the company for the new shaftless screw conveyor worked on identifying why it was not working correctly. Thank you to the crew for keeping the plant functional while this was being investigated and corrected. City Manager LaGoe also thanked the Recreation staff for the successful Wildfire Preparedness event.

Summer Recreation Guide: This guide has been released online and can be easily accessed for information on classes, camps, events and more.

Volunteer Cleanup: Last weekend the Recreation Division hosted a volunteer cleanup day at Skypark and Siltanen, and this cleanup event was part of a larger countywide effort.

Grand Opening Celebration for Siltanen Family Swim Center: There will be a grand opening event on June 2nd from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM with the new pool operator, Pacific Flow Swim Center. There will be recreational swimming and other activities during this event.

New Public Works Director - Rodolfo Onchi: A warm welcome goes out to our new Public Works Director who has 20 years of Civil Engineering experience and lives just outside the City of Scotts Valley. Rodolfo starts on Monday, May 20th.

Budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025: We have completed the City's cost allocation plan, and the final draft of the user fee study was just received from the consultant. City Manager LaGoe thanked the Budget Subcommittee and Administrative Services Director Stephanie Hill for the work on the budget. The draft budget will be presented at the next City Council meeting.

Wildfire Preparedness Event: The recording is on the City's YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@cityofscottsvalley.

David Leland, a resident of Scotts Valley, spoke about changes in the Town Center plans. He feels that the city is bypassing environmental due diligence in favor of speed, and he is worried about the additional housing units and the traffic.
